Description
Showcasing a gorgeous old-cut diamond and four diamond roses, this late 1920s ring sets them in white gold. After the great inflation of 1914-1923, Germany experienced rapid economic growth, which - although unfortunately not lasting - was reflected in the increased demand for high quality jewellery such as this ring. The exclusivity of the jewellery from these eventful years is also demonstrated by our ring. It shows the elegant design language of Art Deco, which dominated the decade and produced miniature works of art of a quality never achieved again. The ring face is navette-shaped and slightly curved, framing the sparkling diamond setting with the finest saw ornaments. The centrally set large old European cut diamond of together about 0.40 carats shines in dreamlike white and magnificent light refraction. The ring is made of white gold, so that the color of the diamonds is not affected by the warm shine of the gold and the luxurious character of the ring is further emphasized. Jewellery made of white gold was a great innovation in those years. Only when in 1912 in Pforzheim the production of white gold had succeeded for the first time, by a clever alloying of gold with other metals, the way was free for all-round white jewellery. However, it was to take until after the First World War for the new metal to become really popular. With the fashion of Art Deco, however, there was no stopping it. The ring is in first-class condition and a beautiful testimony to the time, which can still be worn effectively today.

"Even if the preferred gemstones change and celebrate their resurrection as a favorite of the ladies only after years - the diamond has never lost its position, evenly like its impeccably clear fire it outlasts all currents of fashion. It is therefore understandable that so many desires secretly aim at rings with diamonds..." (From a jewels brochure of the 1930s)
