Description
In dazzling ambiguity, the snake surpasses any other animal of mythology. On the one hand, it was considered dangerous and unpredictable and was feared for its venom. On the other hand, it was admired for its mysterious beauty. Its ability to shed its skin also symbolized renewal and rebirth. Its alleged magic and power made the reptile ideal for the protection of the gods and kings, and in this capacity it adorned the headscarves of the pharaohs. But the snake also stands at the end of ancient Egyptian history: In 30 B.C. Cleopatra committed suicide in front of the advancing Romans with the self-induced bite of a poisonous snake, thus ending the 3000-year history of the Pharaonic Empire. A snake from the 60s of the 20th century found its way to us here in Berlin. The animal is forged from 14-karat rose gold and shows itself enameled all around. The body of the snake appears wonderfully green. A fine scale pattern, previously engraved by hand on the golden base, shimmers through the translucent enamel. A fiery red ruby and a total of 29 fine diamonds form the trim of the head as well as the eyes of the animal. The bangle has no clasp and thanks to six points of articulation, it can be bent open to be put on and taken off. Thus, the snake can wrap around the wrist, but also be worn on the upper arm: With a sleeveless dress a sensational eye-catcher. Weighing in at more than 127 grams and with an outstanding diamond quality, this unique piece of jewellery will delight you at first sight with its exquisite workmanship, beautiful materials and artful design. An all-around seductive piece of jewellery!
