Königsberg facets

Antique Königsberg cut amber necklace, around 1935

The present necklace consists of 46 olive-shaped amber beads. Each amber shows countless finely cut facets, which bring out the warm cognac tone of the material. This cut is known as the "Königsberg Cut" and was a specialty of the State Amber Manufactory SBM, where the present necklace was probably made around 1935. Exhibits in the Amber Museum Ribnitz Dammgarten are comparable with our chain. The material of this necklace is real amber, not pressed or synthetically produced amber. The beautiful necklace found its way to us here in Berlin and we had it restrung and fitted with a new screw clasp. Compare the examples of amber of this cut in literature: Die Staatliche Bernsteinmanufaktur Königsberg 1926-1945, ed. by Ulf Erichson, Ribnitz Damgarten 1998, p. 91.
