Love is all around

Antique solitaire ring with 0.84 ct old cut diamond in gold & platinum, England circa 1920

"Even if the preferred gemstones change, only to come back into fashion with the ladies after years and years - the brilliant has never lost its position, and just like its impeccably clear fire it outlasts all currents of fashion. Understandable, therefore, that so many desires secretly aim at rings with diamonds..." (From a jewellery brochure of the 1930s) Hardly any piece of jewellery has the meaning and deep symbolism of a diamond ring. As a sign of everlasting love and connection, the diamond, as the hardest mineral on earth, has been worn as a gemstone for centuries. Especially an old-cut diamond is an individual gift; because unlike today's brilliants in modern full cut, of which one looks almost like the other, you can always expect unique, handmade proportions of old-cut diamonds. The central old-cut diamond, which we see here in a finely crafted ring from around 1920, weighs 0.842 carats and is individually faceted. An appraisal by the Berlin diamond laboratory Dr. Malzahn has rated the stone with the color grade "Top Wesselton, G" and graded its clarity as "Si". It is a vivid stone of wonderful quality. The solitaire is held by a delicate crown, crafted of bright platinum, as are the detailed ring shoulders. A simple shank of high-carat yellow gold completes the piece of jewellery. The classically beautiful ring came to us from London and is suited to be worn alongside a wedding band.
