Luxury & Beauty
Expressive bar pin of the Art Déco with fine diamonds, around 1930
For a brief moment it seemed possible, the dream of a happier society without hardship and poverty, in new luxury and beauty. The First World War was over, the economy began to warm up and a new style conquered art, architecture and crafts: Art Deco. The historical forms of the turn of the century had been discredited with the demise of the old social forms. The new urge for fun-loving wealth demanded new forms, which the new objectivity was unable to fully satisfy. With reference to clear geometries, symmetries and the finest materials, the formal language of the new era emerged: dynamic, splendid and modern. The brooch presented here speaks exactly this language. Developed from the simplest geometry imaginable - the line - the bar pin is composed of four parallel white gold bars, visually separated by one large and two small shadow gaps. The ends and centre of the brooch are adorned with magnificent platinum overlays set with fine old-cut diamonds. Thus, mirror-like polished surfaces are juxtaposed with sparkling groups of diamonds. The centre is set with a half carat of very good quality in its own bezel setting. The brooch corresponds to the so-called "all-diamond" fashion of the 1920s and 1930s, when jewels were set exclusively with diamonds. This highly elegant brooch also shines in the light of these precious gemstones, setting 45 old-cut diamonds with a combined weight of approximately 1.86 carats. It is the dawn of modernity, a creative combination of elegance of form and preciousness of materials, which can be observed in this piece of jewellery. A special bar pin of the years around 1930, well preserved and of extraordinary elegance.
