In blue spheres

Fine white gold ring from our workshop with 0,49 ct vintage diamond, around 1960/2020

Jewellery designers have always loved playing with shapes and precious materials, because the aim of a good piece of jewellery is ideally for the elements used to enhance each other's effect. In this ring, a modern white gold ring from the USA, a fine frame of radiant blue sapphires surrounds a central white brilliant-cut diamond. The blue gemstones, each of which has been specially cut into the setting to create the impression of a continuous ring, contrast brilliantly against the cool white gold of their setting, revealing myriad facets. In the centre of the design, the central brilliant-cut diamond weighing 0.49ct is thus highlighted by the sparkling zone of sapphires. Three additional small diamonds on each of the ring shoulders also make these sections of the ring sparkle. The central diamond is brilliant cut and came to us unmounted - we had it set in the new ring setting with the sapphires. We first had the stone graded by a Berlin laboratory: its color was determined as fine white (Top Wesselton, G) and its inclusion pattern as Si1, so the billant has only small inclusions visible under a magnifying glass. The idea of forming a ring with a circumferential frame of calibrated colored gemstones orbiting a central round stone was already practiced in the years around 1900 and such designed rings are described in old sources as "halo rings", because they remind of the light rings of some planets. The result in this small jewel is a harmonious and rich composition with its own charm, which lives not least from the contrasting colours of the precious gemstones.
