Elegant Bar Brooch With Diamonds In Gold & Platinum, Circa 1925
Hardly part of the repertoire of modern goldsmiths and jewelers today, the bar brooch was once one of the most popular pieces of jewelry of the early 20th century and could be found in every lady's jewelry wardrobe. From specimens for daytime, in gold and set with pearls or colorful gemstones, to quality diamond pins for evening - the stick brooch took many forms. The brooch presented here is a typical representative of this type of jewelry for the German Art Deco and shines in the jewelry color white, which was so sought after at the time. Its widening center field presents three old-cut diamonds in a row. Fine sawn joints arabesquely divide the surface, which is set with countless clear rose diamonds. Each ornament, created by meticulous sawing, is lined with millegrains, creating an almost infinitely detailed sight. The brooch is made of yellow gold and bears a platinum face. Changing fashions have not diminished the bar brooch's versatility, allowing this elegant piece to be worn to great effect on a blouse, the lapel of a blazer or coat, and even as an accent in the hair.
