Elegant pendant with diamonds in gold & platinum, Art Deco around 1920

Did you know that even in the late 19th century there was a strict etiquette in jewellery? At teatime, you had to appear elegant, but not too splendidly dressed, so as not to outdo your hostess. In church, restrained silver was considered advantageous; for a trip to the spa, one could put on coral. Even in the early 20th century, people at least decided between day and evening jewelry. During the day, more informal materials were used: silver or gold, with so-called semi-precious stones. In the evening, the so-called fine jewelry was used, made of platinum and diamonds, shining white and festive. This pendant is such a jewel. It is designed as a drop-shaped frame, richly set with diamonds, in which a large old European cut diamond of about 0.42 ct swings. As was customary at the time, the pendant is worked in platinum on gold and thus appears pure white. Due to a precise workmanship with millegrains and sawn arabesques the pendant appears additionally delicate and light. The high quality of craftsmanship of the piece of jewelry is revealed even in the smallest detail. The pendant is very well preserved. Probably it was made in Germany. We have supplemented it with a platinum chain, which was created on our behalf especially for jewelry like this.
