Platinum moments of glory

Fine platinum ring with 0.10 ct Top Wesselton brilliant cut diamond from our workshop

Trained on antique originals, our goldsmiths now and then also try their hand at old craft techniques that are rarely used today and are therefore almost forgotten. One of these is the treatment of metal surfaces with so-called "Millegriffes" or "Millegraines", which means "a thousand little baskets". In this process, delicate ridges are carved out of the gold or platinum, which are then rolled off with a tiny steel wheel with small indentations. In this way, the ridges are transformed into gossamer pearl ribbons that reflect the incident light a thousand times over. This technique, so often used in 19th and early 20th century jewelry, is employed in this ring from our workshop. In the centre we see a fine brilliant-cut diamond in a bezel setting, which almost seems to float in a round ring head. The ornamental border of the ring head forms a central star of shadow gaps in which the brilliant-cut diamond is set. Two other small diamonds add further highlights to the ring shoulders and lead over to the delicate ring rail. The ring reminds us of the elegant jewels from the years of the "Great Gatsby" and silent movies, but without being bulky or hard to wear. The jewel's high-quality materials and flat, compact design mean that it can be worn every day without restriction, making it the perfect engagement ring!

We use historic diamonds and recycled gold for the production of jewellery in our workshop wherever possible, in order to conserve resources and not pollute the environment. So even with a new piece of jewelry, the motto can be: "Antiques are green!"
