Fine platinum ring with 0,34 ct old cut solitaire from our workshop
A ring with a single diamond is considered the classic engagement ring today. Here, the precious (and, according to legend, indestructible) stone stands for eternity - which is thus meant to underline the duration of the promise made with it. The creator of this idea is the New York jeweller Charles Lewis Tiffany. Tiffany first specifically advertised solitaire rings with a diamond in the center in 1886, offering them as engagement gifts. In fact, however, the tradition of understanding a diamond ring as a symbolic piece of jewellery is much older: as early as 1477, it is said, Duchess Mary of Burgundy received a diamond ring as a promise of fidelity from her future husband Maximilian of Habsburg. The ring presented here, made of high-carat platinum, was designed in this spirit as a timeless classic and executed in our workshop. It is a simple platinum ring that holds its old-cut diamond in a prong setting. For the sake of sustainability, we make this ring entirely from recycled materials here. The platinum of the ring, as well as its antique diamond, are used here in second uses. The metal comes from old platinum jewelry that has been melted down, and the diamond is also an old stone that was cut back around the turn of the century and has already been set in another piece of jewelry. We have observed the reuse of gemstones in numerous antique jewels and continue this ancient tradition with this ring. Precious gemstones and valuable precious metal were not generally discarded in the past when the design of a piece of jewellery became unfashionable, but the precious components were and are always reused in new forms. So this ring fits wonderfully into the history of jewellery, which lives above all from the durability of beautiful materials and from constantly changing tastes. Made in a sustainable manner, the ring can adorn many generations to come. We have had an external appraisal made of the centrally set brilliant-cut diamonds; it is delivered together with a certificate from Hofer Antikschmuck.
