For the love of the sea

Fine platinum ring with aquamarine & diamonds from our workshop, 2020

Our love of antique objects has led us, as antique jewellery dealers, to purchase unmounted historical gemstones from time to time, for which we then had to look for beautiful settings. This search, however, turned out to be more difficult than expected. Modern ready-made settings, as you can buy them in the shops, are often soulless machine products without any feeling for form and proportion. But beautiful, hand-forged, antique frames rarely come to us without matching diamonds. So we commissioned our goldsmith to forge a ring setting to our design, which we then had cast in platinum using an ancient technique. Two small set diamonds in delicate mille-handle ornaments divide the ring shoulders and give the piece a light elegance. At the same time, the jewel sparkles with every ray of light that strikes its finely crafted surfaces. A wonderful, water-blue aquamarine is now set in the centre of the ring, its delicate colour harmonising beautifully with the tone of the platinum. The result is a modern, cool-toned ring, which at the same time, with its delicate forms and high-quality workmanship, is in the best tradition of European jewellery art. Thanks to its high-quality, insensitive materials and its flat design, the ring can be worn every day without restriction.

As the protective stone of seafarers, the gemstone of lovers or as a stone that promises wisdom - for thousands of years, aquamarine has been one of the most valued gemstones. Already in ancient times, people revered it for its brilliance and its color, which is reminiscent of the sea and cloudless sky. According to tradition, it was also believed that the gemstone could appease the god of the sea, Poseidon: sailors therefore threw aquamarines overboard during wild storms to soothe the rage of the sea god.
