Retro style golden aquamarine ring, around 1940
With the Retro Style, yellow gold returned to jewelry fashion in the 1930s and 1940s. Before that, there had been years of dominance by platinum. But now the time was ripe again for warm colors, curved shapes and large colored stones. The aquamarine became an undisputed favorite of the jewelry world - because although it is precious, it is found far more often in large crystals than, for example, the ruby or sapphire. This ring also presents a large aquamarine. The light blue gemstone weighs about 3.60 ct and is shaped in an oval faceted cut that beautifully shows off its color. Sculptural gold swags unfold around it in a neo-baroque setting. They frame the stone like a painting. We were able to discover the beautiful ring in southern Germany. It is very well preserved.
