Precious cord

Nice vintage Wallis necklace in yellow gold, Germany around 1980

This beautiful vintage 14-karat yellow gold necklace shines in a warm golden hue and features a classic cord pattern, also called a "Wallis pattern" or "Welsh chain". These necklaces are composed of links that are combined in pairs in a staggered manner to create the impression of a continuous cord. In fact, some chains of this type have been found during excavations in Wales, dating back to the 7th century. This gold Wallis necklace is an ideal companion for everyday wear, but also becomes a real eye-catcher in combination with noble evening wear. Whether as a "standalone" or with a pendant understand it is decorative and pretty. The necklace is about 51 cm long and is closed with a spring ring. The piece of jewellery came to us from a Berlin estate and is of German production. We date it to the years around 1980.
