Pearly Wisp and Rose Red

Pretty vintage ring in yellow gold, Germany around 1960

How wonderfully white pearls and deep red Bohemian garnets complement each other in their effect is shown by this ring. The piece of jewellery was probably created in Germany and dates to the years after the war. The ring shows an oval faceted garnet in the center, which is framed by a total of ten small pearls. A wreath of smaller garnets completes the ring head and rounds off the festive picture. The ring found its way to us in Vienna and is wonderfully preserved!

Garnet, as a dark, blood-red and mysterious stone, has always been the object of desire for people of all ages. Garnet jewellery suits almost every occasion and is therefore not only worn in the evening or on festive occasions. Most commonly used are the dark red pyrope garnets. In the Middle Ages they were counted among the preferred carbuncle stones and even today you can see a lot of antique jewellery set with red garnets. These mostly come from sites in Bohemia. Since the garnet as a gemstone is relatively insensitive, once acquired garnet jewelry can be a companion for a lifetime.
