The blue flower

Classic Entourage ring with sapphire & diamonds, Sheffield, dated 1979

I am looking for the blue flower, I search and never find it, I dream that in the flower My good luck me bloom. Joseph von Eichendorff (1818) The blue flower was the symbol of longing of Romanticism. It embodied everything that the Romantics were looking for in what seemed to them an overly prosaic and sober world: Depth and overwhelming sensations, a lasting happiness that rewarded the long search. So what more beautiful metaphor can there be for an engagement ring than to hold the proverbial blue flower in one's hand with it? The ring that meets us in the form of such a flower is a so-called entourage ring, from the French word for escort, entourage. Its name describes the way in which diamonds accompany a precious center stone to help it achieve the greatest possible presence. Similar rings have been worn since the 18th century, but it was from the 1960s that the entourage ring once again experienced great popularity. Our ring presents a sapphire of deep blue color, framed by a ring of eight brilliant-cut diamonds. The white stones bring out the color of the center stone especially well, reminiscent of a warm summer night. All the stones are set in white gold, while a rail of high-carat yellow gold leaves a certain warmth to the piece of jewelry. The ring, which according to the hallmark was made in 1979 in the English city of Sheffield, is in very good condition. Due to its romantic connotation, it is particularly suitable as an engagement ring: because the sapphire in the language of jewels stands for loving fidelity, the diamond for eternity.
