Colourfulness

Vintage bracelet with coloured stones & diamonds in gold, Germany around 1950

This bracelet surprises with its extraordinary joy of colour. Four gemstones in green, rosé, yellow and orange compete with each other. The faceted staircase-cut gemstones are set in the centre of a yellow gold Milanese bracelet and are accompanied by small diamonds on white gold bars that are set effectively between the stones and frame them at the sides. We encounter jewels in rich colors throughout the history of jewelry. Especially in the Rococo period, people loved colorful jewelry. The works called "harlequin" designs usually unfolded a magnificent garden of flowers and blossoms before the eyes of the beholder. Colorful "Giardinetti rings" (from the Italian for "little gardens") are also among the appealing pieces of this period. They often feature small blossoms and bouquets of flowers with colorful gemstones and diamonds or arrangements set in a basket, vase or pot. The fact that the desire for color became fashionable again in years after World War 2 is evidenced by the bracelet here. So even though the colourfulness of the stones used creates a bow to the Rococo, the bracelet is a wonderful example of the new-found joie de vivre of the post-war period. The perfectly crafted bracelet shows the typical handwriting of the late Art Deco and draws its elegant charisma from the unusual colours and its modern shape. An unconditional recommendation for all lovers of exciting bracelets! A genuine piece of haute joaillerie that came to us from Stuttgart and comes with a detailed appraisal from the German Gemstone Appraisal Society.
