A garden full of treasures

Pearl set "vegetable ring" in gold, Germany 1980s

At the center of this intricate gold ring is an assemblage of baroque pearls in various sizes. The pearls are surrounded by leaf shapes and small floral vines, making the setting appear to be delicious fruit in a bed wet with morning dew. In its vegetative design the ring refers to the type of "vegetable rings" as they were made by famous representatives of the goldsmith's craft in the years before and after the Second World War. There are beautiful examples of this ring type by Elisabeth Treskow as well as by Johann Michael Wilm. This ring, however, is not forged like the early examples but cast. We therefore assume that it was made in the 1980s, as a reminiscence of the imaginative goldsmith's work of the 1930s.
