All the colors of nature

Fantastic full opal in platinum pendant with elements of Art Deco, from our workshop

A wonderful Australian full opal with 22 carat weight sprays its strong colors as a showpiece in a pendant from our workshop. The large gemstone, a so-called "semi-black opal" from the Australian Lightning Ridge shows a light blue base color and an area-covering play of colors, especially in red and green, but also strong blue and yellow flashes of color appear with every movement or changed incidence of light. It is a high quality gemstone which came to us unmounted and which our goldsmith set in a frame of solid platinum. As a special design element, we added an antique platinum piece as a moveable mounted suspension, which further enhances the effect of the opal with its rich diamond setting. A total of 22 caré cut and early brilliant cut diamonds occupy almost every available space on the element, which is composed of austere shapes. The particularly high quality of the gemstones should be emphasized here; all diamonds have the Top Wesselton (G) color grade. A large eyelet leads to a delicate platinum chain that completes the jewel. Thus the large pendant with its magnificent opal shines in all the colours of nature - and ensures that eyes shine!

A dreamlike stone, the opal, whose special brilliance was praised in the highest terms by the ancient author Pliny at the beginning of the Reckoning of Time: "it possesses a fire finer than that of carbuncle, it has the purple sparkle of amethyst and the sea-green of emerald, and an altogether incredible mixture of light." As a stone of love and hope, but also as a symbol of dazzling love, the following centuries have also revered it. The word "opal" is derived from the Latin word "opalus" and means "to see a change". Already in the classical antiquity numerous legends and myths were entwined around the opal. Among other things, this stone is said to stimulate the imagination and creativity, because the rapidly changing color reflections that it is able to produce are indeed fantastic. The opal in the centre of this ring from around 1930 catches the eye and never lets it go.
