Come to my green side

Vintage ring with emerald & diamonds in gold, around 1990

"No other green attains the splendor of the rich and distinguished emerald. Impossible to compare a green glass with this stone, absurd to name even the sea or a colorful parrot emerald." With these exuberant words, a popular non-fiction book of the first half of the 20th century describes the emerald. The green variety of beryl was coveted in ancient Egypt, but the best stones come from the famous mines of Colombia. As if animated by an inner green fire, the emerald with which this ring of the years around 1990 is adorned also appears. The gemstone is cut in the classic staircase cut, the so-called "emerald cut". On closer inspection, one can see fine crystal inclusions in the radiant green stone, which are considered positive identity features and which are poetically referred to as "jardin" (French for "garden"). The ring is made of yellow gold and its shoulders are adorned with two beautiful diamonds with a total weight of about 0.12 carats. Together with the magnificent emerald, they give the ring a magnificent, radiant aura.

The emerald is a gemstone that immediately captivates almost all gemstone lovers. Its wonderful and imperishable green makes the emerald a stone of hope, as well as it is considered the stone of wisdom and inspiration. It is said that Cleopatra adorned herself with emeralds in order to rejuvenate herself and to preserve her beauty, since according to ancient belief, inexhaustible grace and youth reside in emeralds. For thousands of years, the emerald has been one of the most prized gemstones in the world, and stones from the world-famous mines of Colombia in particular enjoy a legendary reputation.
