Ring, ring, why don't you give me a call?

Precious platinum ring with five diamonds, Art Déco around 1930

Rings with five stones next to each other on the top have been around for a long time: they were particularly popular, for example, at the beginning of the 19th century, during the Georgian Era, as so-called "half-hoop rings", but also during the Victorian era as so-called "5 stone rings". Their design gave the impression of a round dance of diamonds stretching around the entire finger, yet at the same time they saved material and were sometimes even more comfortable to wear. Here is a ring that interprets the idea in the formal language of the years around 1930. The ring is forged from solid platinum and widens at the top to present the five fine diamonds there. The gemstones are shaped in the so-called transitional cut, which is already very close to the modern full cut. The diamonds have a total weight of about 0.85 ct and are of very good quality (vsi) with white color (H). The number of the diamonds is also symbolic. Because the number five was and is in many eastern and western cultures the number of love, because it is the indivisible sum of the "male" number three and the "female" number two. Among other things, it was therefore considered the number of the goddess of love Venus in classical antiquity. Such rings were therefore often given as gifts of love. The ring was probably made in Great Britain and found its way to us in London. It is beautifully preserved and ready to be worn and admired again.
