The sky over Berlin

Classic ceylon sapphire & diamond ring in platinum, made in our workshop

In 1896, the Berlin ladies' journal "Der Bazar" (Der Bazar. Illustrirte Damen-Zeitung, 42nd volume 1896, no. 26, p. 321) described the latest jewellery fashions as "of truly enchanting splendour are jewellery with Ceylon sapphires, which are currently very much favoured by fashion". And it is in this spirit that we have designed this ring. The ring from our workshop is a classic entourage ring with Ceylon sapphire. Its ring form (from the French "entourage": company, entourage), in which a larger center stone is surrounded by diamonds, was first in vogue in the years around 1890 - and since then it has been impossible to imagine the world of jewelry without it. A medium blue sapphire forms the focal point of the ring head made of fine platinum. Sixteen brilliant-cut diamonds of good quality and radiant white line the center stone and surround it with festive sparkle. A total of 0.36 carats of diamonds have come together here to support the precious center stone in its effect. We designed the ring to be as comfortable as possible to wear and used good materials. Due to its flat design and gemstone settings with no distracting lobes, the ring can be worn daily without any problems. The ring shoulders are decorated on the sides with delicate ornaments based on models from around 1890, and all parts are designed to be as fine and delicate as possible to draw the eye entirely to the fire and radiance of the gemstones. Last but not least, the ring also has a romantic dimension: the combination of sapphire and diamonds can be read symbolically in this ring and the stones are chosen to express a promise. Thus, in the language of gemstones, the blue sapphire is emblematic of fidelity and diamonds have been seen as the hardest minerals on earth since classical antiquity as a symbol of eternity. Exquisite materials, the fine quality of the setting, its good craftsmanship and last but not least its historical reminiscence make it a perfect engagement ring.

Blue sapphires from Sri Lanka, the former crown colony of British Ceylon, are known as "Ceylon sapphires" and have been highly prized for centuries. These particular gemstones exhibit several distinctive features in their coloration, unmatched clarity, and luster, which almost always ranks higher in comparison to other blue sapphires found elsewhere on earth. However, as with all natural gemstone occurrences, the number of stones mined is very limited, so premium stones from Ceylon can only increase in value.
