Love Me Tender

Romantic ring with garnets, natural pearls & diamonds, around 1900

In this ring, the glowing red of beautiful garnets is combined with the shimmer of two fine natural pearls and the sparkle of white old-cut diamonds - resulting in a rich and harmonious composition. As a red gemstone, garnet is a classic love symbol with romantic significance. As early as the Middle Ages, garnet was called a carbuncle stone, which derives from the Latin word "carbunculus" (small glowing coal). Because this is how the sparkle of the garnet appears in the sunlight and the association to glowing love is not far away! In combination with the pearls, which, like the goddess of love Venus, were produced by a shell, and the diamond as a symbol of duration and permanence, the ring therefore lends itself particularly well to becoming a gift that also brings a lifetime of pleasure through its layers of meaning and represents a very special gift. With its magnificent design language, the ring follows a child of the Victorian age. It was created in the years around 1900 and came to us in London.

Garnet, as a dark, blood-red and mysterious stone, has always been the object of desire for people of all ages. Garnet jewellery suits almost every occasion and is therefore not only worn in the evening or on festive occasions. Most commonly used are the dark red pyrope garnets. In the Middle Ages they were counted among the preferred carbuncle stones and even today you can see a lot of antique jewellery set with red garnets. These mostly come from sites in Bohemia. Since the garnet as a gemstone is relatively insensitive, once acquired garnet jewelry can be a companion for a lifetime.
