Flowers that do not wilt
Victorian flower brooch with pearls & turquoises in gold, around 1900
Flower motifs have been extremely popular in jewelry design through the centuries. Similar to a bouquet of flowers, they were an expression of affection and love, but unlike their organic cousins, they never wilted. Every era has used blossoms and, of course, their forms were varied in the process according to the tastes of the time. This brooch from Victorian England thus follows in a long line of tradition and features a floral design. The piece of jewelry is made of 9-karat yellow gold and shows itself in the form of a small bouquet. The delicate flowers are set with shimmering natural pearls and sky blue turquoise. The brooch, which found its way to us from London, is very well preserved and a small happiness for friends of flowers - not to mention a wonderful gift. She came to us from the south of Germany.
