When a man loves a woman

Vintage engagement ring with a total of 0.70 ct old cut diamonds, London 1983

Hardly any piece of jewellery has the meaning and deep symbolism of a diamond ring. As a sign of everlasting love and connection, the diamond, the hardest mineral on earth, has been worn as a gemstone for centuries. Especially a diamond in the old cut is an individual gift. Unlike today's brilliants in the modern full cut, of which almost one looks like the other, one can always enjoy a diamond in the old cut with its very own, hand-created proportions and shape. The central diamond and its four smaller companions that face us here in a finely crafted ring are about 80 years older than the ring that holds them today, as this one bears the year letter for 1983. We often see jewelry being recreated using antique gemstones, and especially in the case of an engagement ring, the idea of having old family diamonds recut is an obvious one. The center diamond weighs about 0.46 carats and displays a sparkling firework of light reflections. In total, there are about 0.70 carats of diamonds set into the ring. The ring head is made of white gold, while the ring rail is made of yellow gold. The light metal of its cool and light colouring brings out the sparkle of the gemstones particularly beautifully. We know from the hallmarks inside the ring that it was made in London. And that is also where we discovered it.

"Even if the preferred gemstones change and celebrate their resurrection as the darling of the ladies only after years - the brilliant has never lost its position, evenly like its impeccably clear fire it outlasts all currents of fashion. Understandable, therefore, that so many desires secretly aim at rings with diamonds..." (From a jewellery brochure of the 1930s)
