Timeless & Classic

Precious "Collier Chute" of cultured pearls with gold plated silver clasp, 1960s

Did you know that pearl necklaces of different lengths are also called different names? A short necklace worn very close to the neck, for example, is called a "choker", even though it is naturally meant to decorate and not to strangle. A classic "necklace matinée" worn on the neckline has a length of 50-60 cm and is perfect for elegant daytime events. The present necklace shows itself in the particularly beautiful form of the so-called "Collier Chute". This type is characterized by a rather short length of a little more than 40 cm and its typical gradient shape. At the bottom in the middle is the largest pearl. Starting from this, the beads become smaller and smaller on both sides and upwards. This is also alluded to by the name, which is derived from the French "chuter" = to fall off. Our specimen is made of high quality cultured pearls with very beautiful luster. We had the necklace re-strung and fitted with a new clasp made of gold-plated silver. A beautiful classic for ladies of all ages.

A treasure from the depths of the sea - In many cultures around the world, the pearl has a deeply symbolic character. In China, they are a symbol of wealth, wisdom and dignity; in Japan, they signify good luck; in India, the abundance of children. Even among the ancient Greeks and Romans, pearls were highly coveted as jewelry: the Greek term "margarita" was also used to refer to the beloved, as it were, a term that has survived to this day in the name Margaret. The classic pearl necklace must not be missing from a lady's jewelry box
