Highly refined gold ring with antique 5.31 ct diamond solitaire, from our workshop
A historical diamond is always individual, because no old gemstone is really like the other. Each hand-applied facet, each color hue and also each inclusion pattern make especially large diamonds unique, each old diamond is a one-of-a-kind companion. This large historic cushion cut diamond, believed to have been cut as early as the 1890s, weighs 5.31 carats. We came across this unusual stone on a trip to Hamburg and were immediately captivated by it. Modern full-cut diamonds are pretty - but they often appear interchangeable, because today's diamond cuts are largely standardized and so one diamond looks like another. This diamond is quite different: The stone has a delicate, perfectly natural color that has been graduated by an unaffiliated lab. It is a delicate champagne tone velvety, deep and noble. The shape of the jewel is cushion-shaped and, like a brilliant cut, its surface is divided into finely polished facets. Just imagine the size of the crystal from which the historic diamond was cut, for a perfectly cut stone weighing five carats requires a much larger rough crystal. The diamond is clear and appears clean even when viewed through a magnifying glass; only an elongated, flag-shaped inclusion, barely visible at first glance, identifies the stone as a naturally grown crystal. Our goldsmith has set the precious diamond in high karat yellow gold and six small diamonds beautifully support the sparkle of the center stone. The high-carat yellow gold shows off the delicate natural colour of the large diamond to its best advantage, adding to its expressive brilliance. The result is an impressive and precious diamond ring - an ideal gift and a perfect investment at the same time. The ring comes with a detailed appraisal from Idar-Oberstein, which was commissioned by us.
