Mani in Fede

Pair of Wedding Rings in Rose Gold, Made in Our Workshop

In earlier times, jewellery always had a meaning and thus transported a message. Rings with two right hands lying inside each other were already symbols of love and friendship in ancient times. They are still known today in goldsmithing under the term "fede" rings, from the Italian "mani in fede" (roughly: "hands in faith"). These rings were gifts between lovers and were meant to express the togetherness of two people. During the Renaissance, this motif was taken up again. Some early examples have been preserved in the major museums of decorative arts; the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, for example, holds a small selection that is well worth a look. Cf. for example the 15th century ring with inventory number M204-1975 from the collection of Joane Evans. Looking for beautiful inspirations for wedding rings and engagement rings, we liked the idea of the rings with the two hands, as they are so eloquently symbolic. So, inspired by historical fede rings, our goldsmith designed and made a pair of rings that we offer in yellow gold, rose gold, and platinum, as well as in all standard sizes. Here is a pair of the rings in high karat 750/000 rose gold. The rings shown were made in sizes 50 and 66. We can make any size for you at no extra cost within 5 business days. Of course, you can also purchase only one copy of the ring: just contact us! The rings can be worn by both men and women. They are suitable as wedding rings, engagement rings or friendship rings because of their design, but also because of their content. In any case, they are an unusual piece of jewellery and a speaking symbol with historical references!
