It's the collar
Elegant gold & platinum sapphire & diamond brooch, circa 1910
Brooches belonged until not so long ago to the really indispensable pieces of jewelry. No lady would have left the house around 1950 without a brooch, because without a brooch the clothing was not complete. How and where the brooch was worn on the clothes, changed following the respective fashions. Sometimes the brooch sparkled on the lapel, then again in the middle of the belly as a so-called stomacher. In the years around 1900, on the other hand, the so-called "collar brooch" was popular, which was worn on the front of the blouse at about the height of the top button on high-closed garments. The sparkling early 20th century brooch here is such a piece, originally intended for the collar. Strung on a slender shuttle of festively gleaming platinum, natural sapphires and old-cut diamonds alternate and show up in delicate frames in shadow gaps. The center is occupied by a particularly large diamond weighing more than one carat in the color Top Wesselton, and pretty little diamond roses occupy the spandrels of the framing. The elegant brooch is made of platinum on the front and gold on the back. In total, it sets four dark blue sapphires and 25 diamonds in wonderful color qualities. Today, of course, the delicate brooch can add a sparkling accent to any part of your clothing, hold a scarf together or even adorn your belt: The possibilities have no limits!
