Many craftsmen of the 19th century drew their inspiration from past eras. Towards the end of the century, it was the resplendent world of the second half of the 18th century that captivated the contemporaries. Design ideas of the 18th century were soon paired with the formal sensibility of the 19th century. This gave rise to the typical jewellery of the Belle Époque as we know it today.
