Jewellery from Antiquity

ollecting and owning genuine objects from antiquity is a great luxury and a true joy. While famous statues like the Laocoön are forever reserved for the museums, smaller but no less enchanting works like cameos, intaglios and coins are available on the market from time to time. On this section of our homepage, we are pleased to show you jewellery with and from these centuries-old treasures to wear today.

Fresco of a Woman with Wax Tablets and Stylus (so-called “Sappho”), 55 to 79 A.D, Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli, 9084.

The art and culture of antiquity still influence us much more than we might think. The sculptures of the Greek classics and the architects of Rome have been the most important references for artists over the centuries. Traces and direct references to art of antiquity can be found in more than just the Renaissance and the Baroque period, or even in the Middle Ages. In his classic period, even Picasso invoked the “art of the old”, as Goethe called them. And thanks to Winckelmann, the Greek ideal of beauty marks the worlds of fashion and advertising to this day.

Discover a distant world that can at least in its testimonies become part of our daily lives. From Egyptian scarabs made of stone to Greek coins and Roman intaglios, you are invited to discover a breadth of possibilities as rich and great as the world of antiquity was itself.

Our objects from antiquity do not originate from illegal dig sites. We only and always acquire the pieces from official art dealers that are able to verify the proper provenance of the objects.
