Some time ago, we were lucky enough to be able to purchase the estate of a jeweler, which contained numerous, apparently unworn pieces of jewellery from the c. 1900s. There were numerous brooches with garnets, bracelets and also several pairs of earrings that had survived the generations together as if in a time capsule. This pair of earrings comes from this collection. The showpiece of the design shows a three-dimensional flower on an oval frame made of gold. A small drilled pearl shimmers in the center of each blossom. An elongated pendant is pendant-mounted at the bottom. The gold has a warm yellow gold tone. The pair of earrings is inspired by the jewellery of the Rococo and Biedermeier periods, which had become fashionable again as romantic memories at the end of the 19th century. The technique in which the earrings are made corresponds to the historical models. They consist of thinly rolled and embossed sheet gold on a base metal and are filled with resin. This results in relatively stable but pleasantly light pieces of jewellery with a wealth of detail and beautiful proportions. The pair came to us here in Berlin and is in perfect condition.
