Tahitian pearls are among the most coveted and luxurious pearls in the world. They are considered the epitome of luxury not only because of their size, but also because of their natural, fascinating colors. Their cultivation requires special care: they are grown exclusively in the warm, crystal-clear lagoons of French Polynesia - on atolls and archipelagos where the sensitive black-lipped oyster (Pinctada margaritifera) finds ideal conditions. Only this species of mussel produces the unique, dark grey to deep black pearls that enjoy worldwide recognition as Tahitian pearls. Two particularly beautiful Tahitian pearls with a diameter of around 10.3 mm have been crafted into this modern pair of earrings. The dark grey pearls have a flawless surface with a multicolored overlaid luster in so-called "peacock colours". The pearls actually shimmer purple and green depending on the light, so that they are actually reminiscent of the luxurious plumage of a peacock. They resemble a row of precious gemstones. These seem to want to match the variety of colors of the pearl, as they are fine sapphires in subtle pastel colors. The natural stones have a combined weight of around 1.40 ct and are carré-cut. Three brilliant-cut diamonds complete the composition. The precious pair was created in the Schöffel manufactory in Stuttgart. We discovered it in Berlin and deliver it with a detailed appraisal from Vienna.
