From time to time, on our forays through antique stores, auction houses and flea markets, we buy fragments or parts of antique pieces of jewellery that do not seem wearable as they are, but which we cannot pass by. We hand these objects over to our goldsmith. He is always delighted with the little finds, as he can let his imagination run wild and give them a new lease of life as wearable pieces. In the case of this pair of beautiful earrings, we found elements of an antique brooch from around 1920 and used them for a new creation. The elements each feature three white sapphires in platinum settings on gold. Circumferential shadow gaps visually enlarge the stones. We added new bows and added two obsidians as a special eye-catcher. Obsidian is a volcanic glass that was used in prehistoric times as jewellery and especially as a tool, as its fractured edges are sharper than surgical steel. In our case, however, the stones are pleasantly smooth. As a special decorative eye-catcher, they have a greenish-golden cat's eye effect that mysteriously wanders over the deep black surfaces. The result is elegant, luxurious ear jewelry in beautiful materials.
