Aquamarine is the blue variety of the mineral beryl, a mineral family to which the emerald also belongs. Its sometimes bluish-sea-green, then again clear-blue color as well as its high clarity and brilliance have led to the fact that it has always been associated with the sea. This also gave it its name, which derives from the Latin "aqua marina", sea water. During the Art Deco period, the blue gemstone became an undisputed favorite of the jewelry world. The pendant shown here from our workshop is reminiscent of jewelry from this period. A large, clear aquamarine weighing 42.20 carats is the focal point of the design. It is an intensely luminous blue and shaped in an octagonal scissor cut, the geometric look of which is continued in the setting. Cool luminous white platinum shapes the decorative setting, which is lined with grains and set with diamonds. The jewelry is in keeping with the formal consciousness of the interwar period, when a new, modern style was developed with the help of cool colors and strict lines: Art Deco. We designed the pendant based on an antique model, using historical material. The aquamarine was cut more than 50 years ago, and the diamonds and platinum are recycled materials that have been reclaimed and reused in our goldsmith workshop for sustainability. The pendant with platinum chain comes with an external gemmological certificate.
