The second volume of the *Bildungsbibliothek für Teutschlands Töchter* (Educational Library for the Daughters of Germany), published in Augsburg in 1834, contains a chapter on the “language of flowers.” During the Biedermeier period, this was one of the common means of nonverbal communication, and much of it has survived to this day in proverbs and idioms. At that time, lovers in particular could hardly show their affection in public because the moral standards of the era forbade it. The language of flowers thus became an important means of wordless communication. Today, almost everyone knows what a red rose signifies and that it’s best not to give thistles as gifts. Yet the meanings of many other flowers have since fallen into oblivion. The daisy, for example, symbolizes pure and quiet joy, as well as modesty and love. We designed this ring entirely in the spirit of the language of flowers. A sparkling white brilliant-cut diamond weighing 0.25 ct forms the radiant centerpiece of the design; eight smaller brilliant-cut diamonds form the petals of the daisy. All the stones are set in high-karat yellow gold. The total diamond weight is 0.74 carats. We crafted the ring entirely in Germany using recycled materials. The gold and diamonds come from older pieces of jewellery. The setting was cast for us in Pforzheim, and the diamonds were set in Idar-Oberstein.
