This ring is a great joy. We discovered it in Hamburg and were so impressed by its elegant appearance that we had to bring it with us to Berlin. The design of the ring is classic. It is a typical Art Deco ring with an oval ring face that is slightly curved like a shield. The center is set with an intense pink-red ruby. The stone weighs around 0.95 ct and is very pure. Under a magnifying glass, only small inclusions can be made out in its interior, evidence of its natural formation. In fact, this is a natural ruby from Burma, the classic country of origin of the best rubies, which has not been heated or treated in any other way. There are 14 rays emanating from the ruby, rays of diamonds and platinum. They form the actual ring face. Two further small diamonds are set on the ring shoulders. The lower band of the ring is made of light yellow gold. The ring was created in the 1920s. Typical for this time is the use of single cut diamonds next to diamond roses. In the 19th century, the 8/8 cut was still rather uncommon, but in later decades diamond roses disappeared from the goldsmiths' use and the modern brilliant cut prevailed.
